First taking to the stage in late 2006, Last Witness immediately caused a stir in the UK hardcore scene. For the next 18 months the band tore their way through the country on a relentless show schedule, culminating in a European tour before playing a sold-out farewell show at London's Barfly. Blistered, ephemeral, exhausted, the band parted ways leaving fans gasping for breath. Fast forward to 2010, when following the overwhelming response to the post-humous release of their originally shelved 2008 debut, ‘An Unfinished Life’, the band reformed and unveiled an all new 7”, the acclaimed ‘Give Up’, and haven’t looked back since.
Now it is truly time for the next chapter in Last Witness’ career, with brand new album ‘Mourning After’ marking a significant and undeniable step-up for the London quintet. Set for release via Distort on February 21st, 2012, ‘Mourning After’ is without a doubt the strongest, most ambitious, compelling and downright nasty Last Witness material to date - an iconoclastic mesh of crushing discordance and ethereal melody.
A postmodern lament of a generation without hope, ‘Mourning After’ will leave listeners both floored and begging for more as Last Witness begin their ascent to the upper echelons of the national metal and hardcore scenes. “The Void” will be available from Distort on December 27th, 2011 along with a music video for the lead-off track from ‘Mourning After’.
